audacity recording problems

I am using audacity to record my self singing and playing the guitar. The
voice is good but guitar is terrible. I am uing a nexxtech dynamic
microphone omnidirectional imp500.

do you have a dedicated line-in? what soundcard and/or system? I use my
digital effects pedal as an interface, no probs at all bill.
